Hello! We've been lurking here for a while now and thought we'd introduce ourselves. Bonnie and Wade from St. Petersburg, FL. First time Airstream/camper owners! We bought our 29' Ambassador Landyacht in April and have been working on her over the last several months in the hot sweltering Florida heat! We've officially named her Airhed.
We were going to buy just an average new camper and one day I saw her on Craigslist. After discussing and ogling over pictures for a couple of days we decided to take a look and I was in love in the first five minutes and she was ours!
We've been having "fun" dealing with the trials and tribulations of owning a 41 year old Airstream but are thrilled at being stewards of such and old beauty. We feel that the time, money and effort has been worth it thus far. Just the conversations alone that spark up wherever we go with curious people asking "what year is it?" and giving tours to those wondering "what does she look like on the inside?" has been thrilling :-) We've decided that we're so glad that we didn't by that new average camper :-) Okay we're Airstream "snobs" already. That didn't take long, lol.
Anyway, she's a work in progress and we're trying to keep her as original as possible while we work on getting her back into working order.
Here is a link to our blog which documents what we've been up to with our restoration.
Cheers!
Bonnie & Wade
