New Member with a Problem

Howdy from Texas. I have 1969 Land yacht, fully restored and in use as a second home on our Farm. Unfortunately, the Fridge is on the fritz, works on gas, but not on land power which we have been using continuously for the past 6 six years. Have I done something to my baby or is she sjust getting old? I have the manual, but it does not seem to cover this particular problem. Would appreciate any advise on how to it working again. I keep thinking that since it works fine on gas, it is something minor, a relay or sensor I don't know about....

It sounds like your electric heating element went bad. Maybe someone with more experience with such things will chime in here.

Welcome and practiec "The Search"

Welcome to the Forums! As a new member, you now have search capability to find thousands of existing messages in archives here which will address your issues...

Practice learning and using the "Search" tab above in blue bar.. Just click on it, and type in key words like "dometic" and "110" or "electric" and "element", etc.. You'll find threads and eventually messages of others before you with similar issues..

In the meantime, it could be a fuse, or the heating element, or the control board that directs heat to the element, or possibly bad flue preventing the heating element from heating the ammonia mix hot enough...

You may get more info also by posting updated message with make and model of refrigerator, and a photo or two of back side..

Good luck!

MIKE..
Here's a site with basic info..I suggest two things, first check ur flue and be sure no critters have set-up home there..(Cheapest things first). Then, I have to agree C.JOHNSON, that. Your electrical heating element may have just simplified burned out after 6 yrs of continuous use. The very last thing..Actually two things. Check ur fuse box and, have ur battery checked. Make sure that's up to full charge..The 12v is used to power the frig control board ..Got that?
Good luck~!! mat all your problems be solved with ice~!~

Hi Mike,

Welcome to the forums. I had a similar problem with my 67 a couple of years ago. I turned out that one of the connections at the thermostat was corroded. Try cleaning your connections. At least it’s free.

The easies thing to check would be the circut breaker for the outlet the fridge is plugged into. If not that I would look at the heating element. Disconnect the wires and check it with an ohm meter. If it shows open it is bad.
