New member, old trailer- 1971 Safari
Just wanted to say hello and say that I have been looking into refurbishing the trailer we have now and there is a ton of information and help on this web site. I look forward to sharing my pitfalls and triumphs. We currenlty have the trailer parked at a nearby park and the kids love going there but we want to start travelling west with it but need to work on the running gear. Just trying to decide to totally refurbish or maybe just some for now and save the big job for later. It is all original and in good shape inside. Hot water heater doesn't work though. Anyways lots of fun ahead!!

We just had our 1969 27' Overlander checked out and the water heater only needed a new controller......we didn't have to replace the whole unit.....good luck with your fixing up.....perhaps we will meet out on the road someday. pm

No No travel East not west - Top of Toronto is a piece of cake
Welcome to the forums - fellow Ontarian.
If your axle is not good start with it - as a bad axle can lead to lots more things going wrong if you start traveling with her. She could be shaken apart rivet by rivet.
Hot water you can live without in a few camping trips by boiling water on the stove or using the campsite facilities.
We're just a couple hours north east from you and if you need any help just send us a PM
Have fun restoring

Welcome SammeeG - you may want to deal with the running gear issues, then camp in it for a while to figure out what you really need to do. Once you tear into it, using it becomes an issue. Nice looking rig, did you purchase it locally? Do you have any history with it? And about that travel west idea - it's a wonderful way to get the dust off that silver. Point it towards the mountains and enjoy the drive.

Yeah, we bought it from an elderly gentleman that had purchased it in Texas and had camped/travelled with it for many years with his wife. He was alone now and could not drive any more but had kept it in great shape and stored it winters up here.

Welcome from Ohio,
We purchased a 71 23' Safari a week before Thanksgiving.I just stopped and ask an older gentleman if he would like to sell and he said make an offer.Your coach looks nice and clean. This is a great forum and a wealth of info.Post some more photos,I could only find #1, I'm glad to see the early 70's Safari's coming to the surface.

Welcome to the forums. What a beautiful part of Canada you live in, so many nice places to camp near by. Enjoy your restoration and remember once you start it will never be finished but that's the fun of it.
