Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us. I don't know about the numbers that you mention, but I'm sure someone will answer up.

Your avatar says you have a 1982 Airstream. Can you find any numbers that follow the format at the top of this webpage? Airstream :: Customer Services

They are embossed on a riveted metal tag near the door (sometimes streetside however...) -- and often stamped on the steel box beam on the right side of the A-frame/tongue area. Help us out by capitalizing letters if they are that way on the tag or tongue.

Do you have a title? What does you title's VIN say?

I'd wonder if you have a pre-1980 format? The following is just speculation but may suggest what is going on. Posting some photos of the trailer from different angles would help a lot.

I - International
30 - 30' length
3 - 1973?
J - not a t. J = Jackson Center, OH, production
182 - sequential production number

I looked at this thread earlier and at first thought the number in question could not be the vin. It is however the correct format for a much older trailer.
The numbers are a good match for a 1963 Sovereigh 30' made in Ohio.

1 = international trim
30 = 30 foot
3 = 1963
t = twin beds
182 = sequence number

Is it possible that the owner could be that wrong? Or is the number you found not the vin?

This is what a 63 Sovereign looks like...

Thank you very much!!! That is exactly what mine looks like. Do you happen to know where to find pictures of the inside of one that has been restored.

Vintage Airstream Photo Archives
Has photos of many years and many models. Not much on yours, but you can get a good idea from others of the same vintage.

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on your "new" vintage Airstream. We would love for you to join us at the GA Falluminum forum rally in October. Check this thread - Falluminum.

I just got the tag for the camper this week and it says it is a 1973. From what I read about the history of airstreams, the models before 1965 had 7 panels in the crown and the ones after 1965 had 5 panels. ( i guess I read that right) Mine has the 7 panels. If that is right I have a 1963 not 1973. How do I go about getting the tag receipt right?
