New member, New (to me) Caravel

Well, time for a new forum and more fun restoration research. As given in better detail in this post.....

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f145...vel-72269.html

.... I'm going to be the next owner of a '65 Caravel that's been in the family since the late 60's. It will be a while until it get here, the Airstream is currently in South Dakota, but I'm in NY. So likely I'll just be lurking around and reading/researching until it gets here.

Figured I would drop in and say hello though, looks like a good group of folks here.

Welcome Hans.. It is great to have you here..
... And having one more Airstream in the area is a real bonus since there doesn't seem to be that many Airstreams on Long Island.
I am in Bay Shore..

Thanks for the kind welcome. It's easy to spot a friendly forum, and this one definitely seems to be a friendly, mellow bunch of folks so far. It's a nice distraction from some of my more "energetic" hobby forums.

Bay Shore, huh? Wow, a REAL close neighbor. This is my first time owning a trailer of my own, I'll probably harass you with some questions about how to properly get it registered and inspected out here. But that's a ways off, I'd probably forget it between then and now

And you guys are right, it's going to be a long anxious winter waiting for it.

Howdy and welcome to airforums.com, Hans! Can't wait to hear more about your history with that great li'l trailer.

In the meantime, don't you have some old photos from " back in the day" that you could post of it? We are picture-hungry hounds here!

Congrats! What a joy to have a family heirloom And a Caravel no less! When I bought my Caravel people kept telling me it would only be a matter of time until I traded it for something bigger. That was 8 years ago, and I still think it's the perfect size. Sounds like your family must have thought the same. Welcome!

I don't have any here currently, going to try and get some from Dad in the meantime. The irony is that I recently found some old photos of his, and just sent them BACK to Dad about a month ago, a few of which had the airstream in it. Didn't even think to scan them first.
