My son and I just brought home a 1966 Tradewinds. Exterior shape pretty good, interior not so good. Frame and running gear so so. Regardless, I am thrilled to be an Airstream owner finally. I have lurked too long. It was meant to be as I ran across an ad for this trailer only 20 miles from my home and very reasonably priced. Good enough codition to tow home with my Tacoma. I will be reading many posts and as I start the rehab process I will be tapping the resources in this site. Best comment of the day was when my son said "we are the ones getting all the envious stares as we tow 'our' Airstream." Couldn't have said it better myself.

Neither could we!!

Congratulations on the Airstream and the ability to share the experience with your son.

Congrats on the new project/toy!! post some photos when you get a chance it is great fun to see what you have. Are you going to do a full restore? I just started the restore on my 53 Cruiser today. It would be cool to restore together. We will more than likely have similar questions as we go.

Good luck

Welcome to the forums, I'm still a Newbie myself. I am also from NJ, Flemington/Ringoes area. I bought a 73 Tradewind. We are about a half hour appart. If you'd like to meet up/look over each others trailers that would be cool. Belive it or not mines the only one I've been in. Good luck with her, and you will be surprised how well they clean up! MPJ

Thank you all for your welcome. We have started touching everything a bit and will really get into what we purchased this weekend. Real work always interferes with the fun work. After we assess what we have, and we already know that there were modifications made, we will make decisions. We want a fully functioning stand alone trailer close to original, but in all honesty, I don't think we will go nuts over each and every piece. As we get started and know more, we will give you a pin, moparjohn. Thanks for the offer.
