New member, new Intl. 25FB

Just purchased 2013 International signature 25FB. Have been thinking and planning for this move for about 40 years. Approaching retirement, the wife and I are planning to travel the country. About to purchase 2014 Dodge Ram 5.7 Hemi pickup to make it all come together. Looking forward to following the forum for great destination suggestions.

Welcome aboard!

Is your Dodge a 1500, or 2500? Payload can be an issue with ½ ton pickups. Usually at least ⅔ or more of the tongue weight is part of the payload with a weight distribution hitch.

My 2013 25FB International Serenity had a factory catalog tongue weight of 833 pounds. My Shureline scale at the dealership when I took delivery of the trailer showed 1,150 pounds tongue weight with the Hensley hitch head attached.

Many truck stops have CAT scales (certified) that will enable you to see the actual axle weights with just the truck and passenger aboard as compared to their ratings on the door label.

Welcome to the Airstream Life!

We(when we lived in NC) would pass the Airstream dealer in Colfax NC on the way to camping in Black Mountain NC every summer for about 30 years, and each year we stopped in and drooled over the trailers. We finally bought our 19' Bambi in 2007, retired in 2008, moved west in it in 2011, and traded for a 25 Twin just last January here in Portland, OR

We have gained a wealth of information on the Air Forums website, especially when I was considering changing to 16" LT tires for the trailer. You can also get lots of information from the members of your local club if it is convenient. Our club members out here were our first friends in Oregon and we camp with them 4 or 5 times a year when we are not out roaming the country. Last year was a trip back to the east coast and this summer is a trip with the WBCCI caravan to Alaska.

Enjoy the ride!!!

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us. Congrats on your new baby. We had a 2005 25FB that we spent 1,400 in and towed it 120,000 miles. It's a great floor plan. We've been seeing the USA in our Airstream for the past eight years. We've been living the dream since we retired. We recently downsized to a 23FB.

Enjoy your travels and have many great Airstream adventures.

Brian
