New member, new Airstream owner

Hi everyone-
My name is Stacie, I live in Northern California with my family and we just bought an Airstream 1969 Safari Land Yacht 22 ft. We have been looking for and reading about Airstreams for a year or so. We found one online yesterday that was exactly what we wanted, in good condition, and even though we weren't totally prepared, we bid on it on ebay and won. Mind you, it looks great, some of the older parts have been replaced, and it has been used as a dressing room for an actor for the last 3 years. He's put in 10,000 in upgrades through C & G Auto in oregon (Airstream restorers), and the skin is clean minus 1 small dent.Price$ 12,500. We are excited about this, but complete novices when it comes to Airstreams. My husband is going to go inspect it in a few days. My question to all is.....what do you think are the most pertinant items to focus on? What do you think of this price? I would really appreciate any info. Thank YOu!

Hi Stacie,

Welcome to the forums.

Lots of the info you want is here and under the search function. Other Airstream Craftsmen will tell you more but the biggies are:

Axles. Look for the thread. Is this axle shot. It will tell you what axle angle to look for so you'll know how much life is left in your axle.

Floor softness, Tells you where to look and what to look for as a bad floor is HUGE money to repair.

You will always find little stuff to repair but you want to avoid big ticket stuff.

Enjoy your new rig and we hope to see you at the various NorCal Rallies.

Welcome to the Forums and congratulations on your new baby. It sounds like the unit has been maintained since it was still in regular use. The first thing that I would check are the systems, water, electric, gas, etc.The price is probably good if everything is as described. This sounds like a unit that is ready to camp in.
