Okay, so you're an artist and Airstreams jive with the artsy crowd; I get it, I really do...........However, the reality of owning even a small to medium size Airstream motorhome Classic, or even worse, a slab sider Airstream is that you have to be mechanically inclined. You have to know how to work on these vehicle yourself to mitigate the expensive repairs or it can add up quickly.
These coaches, especially the gassers are not cheap to operate; 6-7 mpg in a coach that could be almost, if not 40 years old. Old electrical grounds, hard to find tires, and a host of other problems means that we spend a lot of time fixing them, to use part of the time.
You need to evaluate your DYI skills, or have very deep pockets before entertaining the thought of owning one of these coaches.
That being said, I wouldn't trade my Classic for anything.
Cheers
Tony
