Hi everybody, my wife the kids and I are finishing 25 years of moving around in the military and are ready to finally settle down... by hitting the road! That wanderlust is hard to shake...

If any of you are in the area and are willing to show off your rigs (and teach me a thing or two about vintage systems) we would love it. We are new to trailers and Airstreams but I am researching hard to catch up and am handy with my hands tools and machines... how hard can it be right? What could possibly go wrong?!

Anyways, we are very excited to be a part of this community and look forward to meeting folks of all sorts.

Hi and welcome - and thanks so much for your service.

You may want to check out some local rallies - the New England Unit can be found here: http://newengland.wbcci.net/ and you can see the schedule of events (Chilly Man is a personal fave - and the Region 1 rally is being hosted by NEU in August). Great group of folks who I'm sure can be helpful to you.

There's also the Cape Cod Unit here: http://capecod.wbcci.net/ also great folks and very helpful.

Hope to catch you on the road someday!

Welcome from Colorado: I enjoy the vintage Airstream hobby and think you will too. The aluminum body on an Airstream lasts a long time making vintage Airstreams possible.

There are a ton of possible project depending on your intended use. Short trailers generally for short trips, and long trailers for long trips. But to each his own. A properly renovated vintage Airstream can travel with the best of them. They may not have the latest amenities, but they are comfortable enough for me.

I've had a 66 Trade Wind 24', my son has a 69 Globetrotter 21', I now have a 75 Overlander 27'. Here are photos of each. We also have an 86 Limited 34'. I'm trying to whet your appetite.

Welcome to the forum. You’ll be able to find all kinds of important information here. Read, go to RV shows, read soome more, go to rallies. Lots of homework up front will save you lots of heartache later.

Welcome and thanks for your service. Handy is good enough if you add a reasonable dose of dedication to the mix. Looking forward to seeing your smile down the road. Pat
