New Member in Nova Scotia Canada
I'm a new member from the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia Canada- I have been looking for an Airstream for a couple of years now in this area, but they've been few and far between. I was contacted this week by someone selling a trailer for friends, so the person had very little information about the trailer, apart from this:
It's dated 11-18-76 Type I25-775-2123, 25 feet
Can anybody decipher this? The caller didn't even know the make or model, which I hope translates into a bargain trailer for me! I'm very excited about this, if I can get more info, I'll keep you updated on my efforts to make my dream of owning my own Airstream come true.

that number doesn't match the format on Airstream's site...people don't always write these things down very accurately. the previous owner of my trailer had its numbers wrong, too...as were the old title and registration. but anyway...
you say that you don't know the make or model...do you know that it is in fact, an "Airstream"?? (that would be the "make").
if it is, its probably a 1977 25 foot "international" model. (I25) then there's a "7"...and the date you mentioned is probably the manufacture date, which was late 76...just like cars, they start with the next model year in the fall. But as for the rest, its hard to say, because the format is not what is listed on airstream's website. that "5" might actually be an "S", which would indicate that it was built in Santa Fe Springs. (a "J" or "C" would indicate either "Jackson Center, OH", or "Cerritos, CA".).

If you go out to see it, you should be able to find the serial number on a plate that is riveted to the front outside wall of the trailer...mine is on the street-side. Some years also had them stamped into a plaque by the entry door.
good luck with it, and welcome to the forums!

Thanks for the information- the ad I placed asked specifically for an Airstream, so my hope is that it's a 1976 Caravanner... (I'm not in love with the Tradewind, which I think is the only other possibility if it's really a '76 Airstream.) I'll do my CSI home work and get back to you with the info!

The middle 3 characters in the number should be ---letter-number-letter as T6J . Unfortunatly you cannot distinguish between a Tradewind and a Caravanner from the SN. There should be a plate on the side near the door that has the name on it . One look inside will also tell you , Tradewind has a bedroom the Caravanner does not ,both are 25'. Good luck

The Caravanner has more windows then the Trade Wind. The Trade Wind will have windows in front of the door and the Caravanner will have windows behind the door.

Hey all,
Thanks for your input- It was a Tradewind twin. This week I'm off to see a 1976 Excella, I have high hopes that this is The One. YOu know when you have a good feeling about something? It is the twin in the centre, bath at the back model, the bath pan was removed because it was cracked, but they still have the tub so I guess I should look for swampy flor where the tub used to be.I'll keep you posted on my progress- I've had this dream of owning one for years, I only hope I'm not disillusioned by the reality! Anyone with info on Nova Scotian campgrounds, I'd appreciate your suggestions!
