new member in Dallas

Partner and I just purchased a 2006 75th Anniversary 19' International CCD Bambi, and we're looking forward to connecting with Airstream enthusiasts in the Dallas-Ft Worth area! We have not taken her out on the road yet, but looking forward to getting out there and learning the ropes!

Thanks Chris,

I'm actually going to get to take a little trial trip this weekend at a friend's ranch; she has a full hookup, so I can learn the trailer's systems without (hopefully) embarrasing myself in front of dozens of folks at a campsite!! I'm such a greenhorn! Have great day...

Dave,
Well, thanks for that welcome! So you're in beautiful Elgin? I'm an old Georgetown gal (Southwestern Univ. grad 1976). Love that part of Texas, I guess now known as greater Austin! Spent a lot of time in college driving around visiting the local honky tonks and sampling the fabulous German sausages. That was back before Lake Georgetown when the San Gabriel River was the place to gather and sip on cold beers. Planning to get down there in the Fall for my 30 year college reunion. Does Lake G'town have any hookups?

Hello indiancreek (Nancy) and welcome to the Forums! I too am an ancient historian. We lived in Temple in 1974-75. Mean Joe Greene was the local hero as the Steelers won the Super Bowl in '75. My wife worked at Scott & White with a woman from G-town when it was a small town some distance from Austin. Round Rock was a down-on-its-luck semi repair garage at a minor interchange... . No wonder I didn't recall a reservoir in Georgetown.

Glad you found this great website for exchanging info and learning about your new baby. There are no questions too small and the policy of 'be nice' helps you gain confidence in a good environment. Hope to hear from you often! Congrats!

Welcome!

Nancy,

Congrats on the Bambi! Greetings from Flower Mound.

The systems in the coach are fairly intuitive so don't sweat it. The manual will give you the highlights of how to do things and I'm sure your dealer walked you through lots of other stuff.

Be especially mindful on your hitch setup and the tow vehicle you are using (tire pressures, weight distribution/sway setup, vehicle loading, towing speed, mirrors, etc.). Of all things, these will make or break a good trip.

You'll get lots of help on this forum so let the questions fly.

We just got back from spending a week in the Marble Falls and San Antonio area over the 4th weekend...even with the heat we had a blast. I had to run a window 110v air conditioner because I couldn't get a good 120v feed from my friends ranch in Marble Falls, something that I'm finding more and more (I'm a little paranoid about frying my rooftop A/C with insufficient voltage).

Enjoy your maiden voyage!

Marc

Thanks, Marc! I am loving this forum! Such nice people giving encouragement and advice; what a concept! I'm going to be heading up this weekend to my friend's horse ranch in Aubrey. She is an Airstreamer and has offered to get me familiar with all the intricacies of the Bambi. My dealer gave me all the pertinent info the day I took delivery of the Bambi, but after awhile, I thought my brain was going to explode! I really need the practical experience before it will all make sense! Thanks again for the kind welcome, and I'll stay in touch. Do you go to any of the Airstream club meetings? I'm sure it's fun to visit with like-minded folks, but I'm not sure I can squeeze another meeting into my life!
Best regards,

Nancy (Indiancreek) (the name of my ranch)

Welcome again

After Aubrey come to the North side of the lake....Mountain Springs. Johnson State Park is here with great facilities and no crowds to bother you. A great place to get used to your "Baby."
Melody Ranch (name of the Ranch here) Gene Autry was from Tioga, just down the road and there is always a tune rolling around here somewhere.

Thanks, Melody Ranch! I'll get up there sometime, if not on Saturday. Glad to hear there's some good music playing up there while I'm relaxing in the trailer...

Best,

Nancy
