New Member Hello
I have looked at Airstreams for years. I think I admired them back in the early 70s--one of my paper route customers kept one on his driveway.
At any rate, my wife and I are now 'empty nesters' and considering down-sizing our current 11,700 lb travel trailer to a more compact and aerodynamic tow. We are actually thinking of keeping our 'big' trailer and getting something like a used Flying Cloud 23FB for a 2nd trailer for trips to see our 3 grown daughters.
So...we are openly 'lurking'.

Welcome, folks. Like you, we thought we wanted a smaller one at first. You'll get over it. <grin>

Welcome
We encourage you to attend some rallies and the open "houses" that most rallies include. That's the best way to see Airstreams; with people and all their stuff in a realistic Airstreaming venue.
I suggest you consider a 27' a great length whether you are downsizing or upsizing.
All the best!

Weeeell, since you're nearby, I'll share something with you.
I've closed on a 2013 25FB Twin, and I am trading my 2011 23FB in on it.
AND, I wouldn't mind NOT towing the 23 the distance to effect the trade.
If you're interested, PM me.
In any event, good luck in your search. You're thinking about the right kind to downsize to.

Thanks for your welcome, everyone.
We are in a quandary about trailers and just wanted to be open about my 'lurking'. As much as we love our big trailer (Arctic Fox 32D), it is a literal 'box on wheels'. My engineering side cringes at the fuel used pushing against the wind. But...it is very roomy once we arrive.

We too love the Artic Fox 32D, but it's a bit like towing a barn.
You won't believe the difference when you tow an Airstream, even a 31' footer like mine. So, please do assume you must sacrifice length to get a huge improvement in towing.
We once met a man who towed his 21 or 22 foot Nash from CA to trade it for a new Airstream 25' (because the Nash towed like a barn). He was soon back to trade for a new 27' "because the 25' towed so easily." The last time we saw him, he was trading for a Classic 30'. He had fully realized that once you eliminate the wind resistance, you can tow any length that suits you. They all look the same in the rear-view mirror.

Size DOES matter. People like to tow a small rig, but usually yearn for a bigger one once parked. Biggest mistake I've seen is people make is buying small and trading up within 6 months or so for a few more feet. With that said, we've had a 28', 19', 22' vintage, and a 25' 2012 Cloud. For the three of us, the 25' Cloud works well, but we'll always hang onto our 22' 1954 Cloud.

I lurked for a long time. Trust me. Stop lurking and take the plunge. Most people would consider me to be a world traveler...but NOTHING, NOTHING is as much fun as taking a trip in SilverLeaf. While I've only had it for 18 months, the saddest part of owning my trailer is when I have to come home from a trip....
