Hello everyone,

Just made it home with my first airstream. 1973 Excella 500, 31 ft. Pretty good shape with no wood rot or frame damage. Didn't pay attention to the 30 year old, 3 1/2 inch thick sidewall, dry rotted tires. Yep, as you guessed I had a blowout on my 3 hr trip home. But it worked out fine minus tearing some lower trim off.

Congratulations on your new TT, and welcome to the AS forums. May all of your camping days be joyful occasions. Now go get yourself some Michelin's and be done with that issue!
All the best to you & your family. It's a great group of folks on here, and the knowledge you can gain from just reading is an incredible resource to draw from. Do check out the WBCCI.
Sea ya down the road,

Hello to a Fellow Georgian!

As mentioned you'll find lots of useful information on this site and have an opportunity to meet lots of interesting people.

One of the ways to meet fellow Airstreamers and attend some interesting events is to participate in rallies listed on Air Forums. There are lots of good rallies in the southeast and a few are coming up later this year.

Take a look at this one in Waycross, GA in September

This one in Hiawassee, GA in October

And this one at Hunting Island, SC in November

Hello, I appreciate your willingness to help. Yes there is a lot to learn. Two of the things right off the back which I am dealing with is sealing 2 leaks and painting on vinyl. I think I am on the right track, but its been a learning curve with these double paned windows.

Welcome to the fold. You will soon learn there are many on the forum willing and able to help.

If you want to visit a rally, there many in the southeast to choose from. The rallies generally host an 'open house' on Saturday and you can gather a lot of fix-it/improvement ideas in person. Sadly, rallies in the fall months usually mean making a reservation months in advance due to the competition at the campgrounds from other brand campers vying for a cool, colorful weekend, too.

Here's one near Cleveland, SC, you can join at the last minute without reservation due to the sheer size of the place. There are already 70+ forum members who have indicated interest. You'll get a chance to meet quite a few attendees from the coast just north of you.
