Talking New Member from Colorado- Hello folks!

Hello! Very excited about this site. I have already learned a lot. Would it be appropriate to ask for help in towing an 1960 Tradewind from NC to MI? I just inherited it from my grandparents but it is in no condition to tow (axle is shot). But I wouldn't want to seem ridiculous. I have no TV but a home to store it and am in no place to buy one anytime soon. What are my options? Thanks!

Hi Frederick,
Welcome to the Forums. Towing your trailer home on an original axle shouldn't be a problem, providing you repack the bearings first, & make sure the tires aren't ancient, or just get new ones. There is a guy on the Forums, RJ Dominic , Flatcreek Enterprises who delivers trailers for many of my clients & for various manufacturers & for Airstream. He owns several Airstreams & understands the nuances of towing vintage Airstreams. He should be able to move it for you. You can worry about getting a new axle once you've got it home & you've assessed the trailers needs.
Good luck with your project, you've got a great era.
Colin

Hey! Thanks!! I've never moved something this big before - how much will this move set me back?

I am looking forward to getting this to my house - even though we are in Denver and have never seen our home in Grand Rapids before (except pictures) 😳

That will be fun to fix up. It's a nice size for traveling too, not too big, not too small. Sounds like you'll have quite an adventure ahead of you - new home AND new trailer all at once?

I fixed the link for you so the photo displays without having to click the link. If you continue to use that site, choose the "IMG Code for Forum and Message Boards" and paste it in directly, or the "direct link" one and use the attach image button.

Congrats on the new-to-you Tradewind!

Just as an update! The Airstream made it here a month ago! My dad was kind enough to pull it using my new tow vehicle (2000 Tahoe). Super stoked!
