New Member - 72 Tradewind

Greetings, we recently purchased a 72 Tradewind in pretty good condition. We are taking it camping over Christmas, we are in California, for the first time.
We have a 99 Tahoe to pull it and the rest is an unknown story.

I have been doing much research about what we need and how t take care of things; it is a whole new world for us. I have wired the 7 pin connector and wired the controller into the Tahoe; just set up the hitch today. we are packing it up for a first time shake down trip. We're pretty excited.

Anybody have suggestions?

but no phone.

i think there is a thread here on 'tips for first timers' and another on 'if only i'd thought to bring'...

or some such title...

toilet paper and duck tape are staples and can be used for a variety of issues...

just don't confuse the two...

Ahoy and welcome aboard! The first thing I did after purchasing our trailer and hauling it 45 miles back home was to repack the wheel bearings and inspect the brakes since I had no idea about the trailer's history and wanted to make sure safety comes first. You'll want to inspect the sidewalls of you tires for signs of cracking and dry rot, replace if neccessary. I'm afraid I missed you in time before leaving to tell you to check out the appliances working condition if you hadn't already done so. By now you'll have an idea of what works good and all. Make sure your batteries have the proper water level in them. If your tow veicle doesn't have am electric brake controller, installing one of them really helps.
