Hello Everyone,

Just joined the group in order to learn a bit about Airstreams. Currently have a 19 ft. Komfort, but I am first in line to get my neighbor's 1996 25 ft. Excella Classic. The Excella has only been used about a dozen times and is in primo shape. Does anyone know the good and bad aspects of that model Airstream? Looking forward to learning.

Thank you. Looking forward to learning something about Airstreams. I grew up camping in a Nimrod pop-up and then my parents moved up to a 1955 Holly. We spent many great years camping in that Holly. I have had my 1988 Komfort now for about 15 years.

Welcome Dryheat56,

The Excella sounds nice. It would be great if you could hook up with someone familiar with the airstreams in your area for a courtesy inspection. Even though its use has been limited you might want to look around for soft floors under window area's. The roof area should be inspected for all the usual suspects causing water leakage. Any pictures available for us to see? We love pictures...

Good luck.

Vinnie

Welcome,

We're glad you've joined us and wish you luck with your Airstream pursuit. I'm not aware of any issues specific with that model but if problems exist my guess is others here will know and can advise you accordingly.

Regards,

Kevin

Thanks both Kevin and Vinnie,

The trailer has been kept under covered storage and appears to be in immaculate condition. When it comes time to move it next door to my place I will indeed check on the areas you have mentioned. Over the last 15 years, I have had much of the skin off my 19 ft Komfort to repair rotted framing etc. The previous owners did not do much maintenance on it and that is why I have decided to not own a wood-framed trailer for my next unit. I will have to have my daughter take a picture of the Excella and post for you as I am not computer literate! Thanks

Tim

billyr,

Have you found, after using it for two seasons, anything that you particularly like/dislike about your Excella? My neighbor's unit has the rear twins which would be a nice upgrade from my Konfort that has to have the bed made up each night. The only other thing I am not sure about is that most of my camping is in Forest Service, State Parks, boondocking, etc. I hope moving to a 25' will not limit me too much.

Tim

Hi, Tim we also have twin beds in the rear of the trailer. Have been to 3 nat parks and had no problem. The 25' is good fit. Bill
