I found this great site after a Craigs list find for a free 1962 Safari 9183. I drove 100 miles to get what I wasn't sure was going to be scrap aluminum or fall apart and leave me along the road. Well when I picked it up 2 days ago I just hooked up the hitch kicked the tires and drove home with no probs at all. It has a couple of bullet holes and the intiror is shabby but has all the original appliances. The aluminum is realy in good shape except for a little corrosion and a few dents on the belly pan.The forward vent is gone but has the hardware. Thanks to this site I found Vintage Trailer Parts just up the road from me here in Vermont. The first thing I am purchasing is the vent cover for the forward hatch. The former owner had a tarp over the trailer and was dry inside. The wood looks good but the final inspection when the pan comes off will tell the tail. I just happen to have a 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 XL to tow it. How's that for a perfect tow vehicle. I can't wait to get started and expect that I will have a lot of questions for the forum. Picture is of the donor and his dogs. Thanks, Steve Buker Lincoln Vermont

Good luck and I hope you have as much fun working on your trailer as we have had. They really are a labor of love. Your NEXT one will be even more fun. (Yes there will be a next one)

Congratulations!
What a find, and the price was certainly right! You'll be easy to spot on our Vermont roads with that 1962 combination.
We live just up the road in Huntington, but have no experience in renovation ... yet, that is. We're planning to win the Plymouth Watershed Raffle for the 1964 Tradewind and will start with only $25 invested.

A couple of bullet holes? Is that what you said?
Wow, your trailer seems to have some history
Post some photos of those holes!

Yellow stove
I bet your yellow stove looks great but it would clash with my pink refer.

Hello Judy and Bob, We live in Vermont but we have a place on Grand Lake Oklahoma that we stay at often. I was born in Tulsa Oklahoma but went into the Coast Guard when I turned 21 a long long time ago. Well any way we would like to invite you to camp on the Lake when we are there sometime. We have hook ups. We could talk about Airstreams and what ever. I also have vintage boats to play with. Steve and Jan Buker 1 802 453 2131

For FREE ! ! ? ? ! !
I'm not believing it. Wow, with so much original stuff in there too. Good job, Steve! Congratulations on your new-to-you vintage gem.
Pink refer?? I've only seen one other "pinkish" Dometic, and that was in 62overlander's lovely coach. Cool!
