Aloha,

My wife and I are planning to buy a 34ft Airstream and tour the United States mainland sometime this year.

Welcome

If you're looking for a gently used A/S, check the Classifieds right here as a starting point. You'll need a quite robust tow vehicle for this one, at least a 3/4 ton vehicle. Make sure you get a good weight distributing hitch too.

Have a good time and remember the journey is as much fun as the destination.

A 34 will limit you a bit, it's not suitable for city streets, some state parks, etc. You'll probably want to stick to 4 lane and interstate highways.

Paula

GREAT decision! Congratulations! We toured the US in our 35' Motorhome at least 4 times before we "settled down" to a life in paradise. We drove in big cities and small, stayed in federal, state and corp parks across the country. Mostly we stuck to the "blue highways" on the map to see the "real" USA.

There are numerous resources for your adventure. Some our favorites:
Army Corp of Engineer parks directory - for great campsites
Elks Lodge directories - for boondocking, campsites and food for Elks members
Airstream Parks directory - for contact with great Airstream owners and making new friends
Camping World locations - for "stuff"

Have fun!!!
