First post from new members in Greenwood, South Carolina: We just acquired our first Airstream assisted greatly by the information available within this forum. Thank you all. And particular thanks to RichardT of Bat Cave, North Carolina where we struggled to choose between a sweet 71 Safari and an elegant 74 Trade Wind. Richard has 8 or 9 trailers parked in a row and we couldn’t make up our mind. The Safari would be more interior work, but we like custom, so we took it. Two days later we equivocated and I called Richard. No problem, he wants his customers happy. Bring it back. He would have given me a refund had I wanted it, but we liked the Trade Wind and had decided that a couple of extra feet wouldn’t be a difficulty for us. Richard took two hours away from running his shop, Moonshine Junction, to move six or seven trailers so we could get to the Trade Wind. And then he had to move them all back. Very nice guy and full of good information about Airstreams. A pleasure doing business with him.
My wife and I plan to take this trailer places and cover some miles, so this was a good choice for us because it does not appear to have been roaded much. The bearings look brand new. The interior is original, with only a few broken tambours to fix. Even the carpet looks darn good, but we may pull it out to put in black and white linoleum or some thin high tech wood flooring.
Anyway, hello to all and we’ll asking the usual newby questions, so get ready to cut and paste. Here's a picture of our new baby after her first bath.

Hi and welcome to the Airforums! Are you in the Greenwood near Ninty Six?? We have friends living there who own a 48 Olds woodie wagon - green in color- maybe you have seen it around town. Anyway, good luck in your new to you Airstream.

Welcome to the Forums - and join us in October in Hiawassee, GA for the Falluminum Rally! There is a link here somewhere - maybe under rallies or something. But there are a bunch from SC, NC, TN, GA, FL - you get the picture. A group of us - slightly twisted, loosely connected, but love having food and fun.

Looking for 48 Olds
Haven't seen it, dudebb -- we're on the opposite end of Greenwood from Ninety Six -- but we'll look for it. And we'll look into the Falluminum confab. I hope to be road ready by then. Say, what's the word on the Wally numbers on old trailers? Are they of any use to us? Or are there just too many AS out there to use them to identifiy each other?

plossl, The red numbers on your Vintage A/S trailer are to indentify you as a WBCCI Member. If you wish to join the Caravan Club you can have the International or Local Club secretary check to see if anyone has the numbers that are currently on your trailer. If not and you join the WBCCI then you can have those numbers issued in your name. However, If you want other Forums members to be able to identify your rig then just replace the Red nombers with Blue ones in your Forums member numbers. You are member # 22535. The blue ones are vinyl and sold by another member here on the forums. Use the search tab with key words like blue numbers, or forum member numbers to search the forums for previous posts and you will find his name and contact info. That would look just great on your coach! Hope this helps you decide. By the way WELCOME to the Forums. We are happy you have joined us. Happy Trails, Ed
