I just joined although I've been lurking for a while.
I currently own a 40 motor home, but at this time in my life, I feel the need to downsize. It's just too big for one.
The only travel trailer that appeals to me is an Airstream, and that will mean a new tow vehicle also.
However, after driving a 40' motorhome across the country, and towing a trailer with two motorcycles, by myself, I think I've encountered my share of plusses and minuses.
Narrow construction lanes, dead end roads, mountain grades, trailer blowouts I didn't hear or feel, looking for campsites at 10pm., having my wipers quit in a rainstorm, in other words, adventure.

Well now, I'd like to hear more, what's your vision? You gonna sell that 40 footer and hitch up an airstream and head out to the great blue yonder or what?

Sure. When I was working, I had a unique situation where I could take a month+ off every year. So, I'd go to Colorado and explore the western slope, I love it there. Now I'm retired and have all the time, but less money. (and a dog).
I have to say the best vacations ever where when a friend flew in and we'd set off on a bike trip (motorcycle) from Colorado, with no plans.
I wanted to see the most beautiful parts of America. Charles Kuralt once said that the Beartooth Mountain Range in Montana was the most beautiful road in America. I disagree, it may be #2, but it also allowed me to discover Red Lodge, MT. and attend the state fiddling championship at the high school gym. It restored my faith in people. What a wonderful town! (even with horse poop on main street!)
BTW, I think the Going to the Sun road in Glacier NP. is #1.
But don't tell anyone, I want it to remain a secret.
