We have a new 2014 Flying Cloud 23D we got 6 weeks ago. Lots of things to learn about and the Air Forum will be a great database.

Hi! Glad to meet you. Congratulations on your new Flying Cloud. Welcome to the Airstream community and I hope you have many, many miles of Airstream travels.

There is a lot to learn, but that's part of the fun. I can remember how intimidating it was to hook up and pull the 1986 34 footer for the first time. My checklist of inside the trailer and outside the trailer is quite long. I just don't want to forget something important, like locking the deadbolt on the door. But now I am quite confident I can travel safely with my Airstream.

Our Limited has been in the family since new. Maybe your Flying Cloud will be a family heirloom someday too. We pulled Grandpa's Limited to Glacier in the early 90s when our son were quite young. Now we pull it to Denver to visit them a couple times a year. I guess our Airstream has over 200,000 miles on it and it is still going strong.

Study your owners manual. Practice maneuvering and backing up in a big old parking lot somewhere. Get fuel at BIG gas stations or truck stops. Take secondary roads first so you don't have to worry about merging into speeding traffic, and you can drive 50 or so instead of higher speeds. I think you will find your Airstream tows beautifully, even in cross winds.

Enjoy your first night out!

Hi sander! With 15 years experience in your 69 Caravel, you are an Airstream expert. Now you have a brand new one to break in. I'm sure you will marvel at all the differences between your two trailers, and yet how much they are the same. I'll bet you will enjoy all the extra room in your Flying Cloud as well as that new, big gray water tank!

You would enjoy meeting other Caravel owners in the Airstream Knowledgebase. Find it toward the bottom of the home page, then click on Caravel, and click on the year range for your trailer. There you can help out some new owners with this question or that. You might find that kinda fun.

Welcome to Air Forums. It's a great place to share experiences, both new trailers and old, travel and mechanical, and just plain fun.
