Hi. Everyone -
Am new to this forum and new owner of a -76 31' Sovereign. A lot to be done, but fortunately I have the time to do it.
I'll be asking a lot of questions here and hope for a lot of advices.

These forums have been invaluable to me in my 66 Trade Wind renovation project. You can research your 76 Sovereign and find all kinds of people who have walked the trail before you. I truly appreciate fellow Airstreamers who respond to my questions with patient answers they have given many times before. Read a bit in the Airstream Knowledge Base and specifically 70s Sovereigns toward the bottom of the home page. You'll see some beautiful renovations enthusiasts have completed on their own.
You have joined the club with your vintage 76 top of the line Sovereign. Be ready for the many ups and downs it will provide. Airstreamers make good neighbors! You will feel right at home here in these forums.

A warmheated thanks to each and everyone who took the time to respond to my very first post in this forum. I appreaciate all the nice words and all the advices I have received so far. As for the 1976 Sovereign - turned out to be a 1978 model, nice surprice. On the other hand, the damaged front roof and front side skins turns out to be probably more than I can cope with. Have removed most of the furniture and fridge (very bad condition). On the bright side, belly-pan is corroded several places and I could peek inside at the frame, which appears to have only surface rust. Hooked up to house 120V and this seems to work. Waterpump however, didn't start/run (lack of batteries, I guess). Not seen any rotthru the floor, which is good news.
So, to make along story short: After a family Pow-Wow, went shopping on Ebay and ended up with a 1988 32ft AS Excella 1000, thus making us the proud owners of 2 Airstreams. Friends & neighbors deemed us crazy. Be that as it may, we are already planning the "Maiden trip" second weekend of August. Wish us luck.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Airstreaming!! (For both of your trailers!) I tried talking my husband into buying a companion trailer for our 1980 31' international while it is undergoing renovations, but no go.
Don't hesitate to ask any questions that you may have - the forum is a wealth of information and tips!

Double welcomes are in order! We are sitting out a rain in the mountains outside of Asheville NC in our '86, 31 foot baby. I spent a year getting ours road ready and still get a surprise every trip. Be sure of your brakes, bearings and tires. Safe travels!

Captmatt - thanks for your kind words. We have our "new" -88 32ft AS Excella 1000 roadready. Had it at a local RV Shop for state inspection, so our maiden voyage is scheduled for first week-end in Oct. Going to Assateaque Island here in Md. Very much looking forward to that. Stay dry in Nc.
