New guy with lots of questions

Hello Folks,

I am a new Airstream owner with about a million Questions. I bought a 68 Globetrotter that I think is in pretty good shape. The first question that I have is about the hook-up to my tow vehicle. The Globetrotter has a seven pin electrical connector with six round holes surrounding a seventh. One of the holes on the outer ring is a little bigger then the others. It does not match current connectors and when I check with trailer hitch installers they tell me that I will have to replace it which I do not want to do. Any advice.

Sincerely,
Didgiman

Bite the bullet pay $15 and get one that is the same as everyother unit. The reason is that you might need someone else to pull your rig or oneday you may want to sell it or buy a new tv. I would stick with convention, this is what I did with my 74.

Welcome and "Use the Search!"

Didgiman-

Welcome and congrats on new trailer... I agree with Tarheel that trying to adapt tow vehicle to antique and discontinued connector is bad idea... No matter how much you might want to maintain the 60's ambiance and feel of your trailer, spending $$ to replicate 40 year old electrical technology is bad idea... Make sure batteries, power supply and charging system are current (sic) technology...

As for the other 999,999 questions you referred to, as a New Member your second official assignment (after posting "Hello" message as you have done..) is to learn to use the "Search" tab in blue bar above... Clever use of search terms and searching strategies will take you neatly through the tens of thousands of messags and lessons already recorded here..

Good luck!
