New guy here

Hi,
I'm thinking of buying a vintage Airstream that is local to me (MN). I'd like to find out the best way to identify the trailer. I found no metal tags or serial numbers on the trailer. A quick look through the archives at Vintage Airstream has me thinking it might be a '56 Bubble. I'll try to get some measurements and pictures of the neglected rig posted in the near future.

When I was looking at floor plans, I didn't find any with the sink, range, and refrigerator along the forward bulkhead, as is in this trailer. Perhaps that is an identifier of a different model than a Bubble.

Hey Westend - you'll find several of us in the Twin Cities, and many, would be happy to help you look at the trailer. Is it close by? Pictures will help us identify it too.

Send a PM to MarkDoane who did an incredible restoration of a Tradewind. He lives in Wayzata.

One of the most familiar of the 1950s Vintage Airstreams with a front kitchen was the Safari (22-feet). You can view the sales brochure on the Airstream website at this link. Custom models were quite common during the 1950s so it would be within the real of possibilities that the original purchaser may have ordered a Bubble with a front kitchen similar to that of the Safari.

Good luck with your investigation!

Welcome New Guy Here! I'm sure there are folks in the MN vicinity that would love to help you ID the trailer and help with your questions in person. If that doesn't suit you, post some pics here and you'll get lots of online help. On second thought, post some pics anyway and we'll tell you what we think!

Greetings westend!

The 18-Foot Wanderer also offered a front "corner kitchen" as can be seen in this link on the Airstream website.

The 22-Foot Panorama Flying Cloud also offered a front "corner kitchen" as can be seen in this link on the Airstream website.

Good luck with your investigation!

Kevin
