My brother had a 77 with vacuum over hydraulic brakes and from what I remember that cover in behind the propane tanks in 1 of her pictures looks like the one that was over the controller for the brakes.

That's right. It's a hydraulic vacuum system with disc brakes. My hubs (Kevrey50 on the forum) read an article on here about converting using diesel truck parts... Hmmm....
I cannot wait to get her road worthy! I guess the first part is replacing the rotten decking/flooring. We didn't sleep inside, but we did get the electricity on last night. Today we rolled down to New Braunfels to see what Camper World is all about. Always putting the cart before the horse! I did get distracted by a shiny non A/S sporting a living room with a fireplace... And I left loving our A/S even more. I DO have aluminitus! Lol! I can already see I am among a group of gat folks on here! Wish I'd gotten here sooner!

Welcome to the Airstream forums!

We can always use MORE Texas streamers here in the Republic. You have quite a bit of work cut out for you at this time, but time and perseverance will carry you through.

Steve

Anyhow, she is covered in rat poo, spiders, etc. and is begging for some TLC - BUT she's got a TON of her original parts - down to the curtain hardware! I'm so excited. And the guy we picked her up from was just the nicest guy! I could tell he was having a hard time parting ways with her, but I figure we'll keep it like an open-adoption and let him know how she's doing here and there. Bless his heart.
Problem is - total camper/Airstream/Travel Trailer virgin here. Have NO clue what I'm doing but I've got a lot of heart. Tomorrow she's getting new tires. A/C works - blows cold and I'm SO EXCITED!!!! How in the world will I ever sleep tonight!?!
Congratulations!!!! So glad you have her and will bring her back to her glory! She deserves that. Have a blast!!!
