New Georgia Member / 1978 Sovereign 31'

Hello All,
Thanks to all who have made this forum possible and share so much information. It has really been a big help to me this past week.

I purchased my first Airstream a 1978 Sovereign 31' Mid-Bath. The unit is in fair shape for it's age. The PO did not share a few important things with me though. And of course my own ignorance and trusting nature compounded these issues.

We have been thinking about buying an Airstream for a few years. This is our first travel trailer. When I was a kid there was an older couple in our neighborhood that owned one and I was fascinated by it. Took me 40 years to get my own.

Anyway, again thanks to all who make this forum possible. And thanks in advance for helping me sort out and fix the existing problems my Airstream has.

David,

Your trailer looks great. You will find a very active group of Airstream owners here in GA and a host of camping opportunities.

Welcome David,

Congratulations on the AS. Maintenance and repair is part of a trailer owner's life. Plenty of information here in posts and knowledgeable members so hopefully you'll find the answer to any questions that arise.

Kevin

Hi, David! Welcome to airforums.com!

Say, the exterior of that trailer sure looks nice, so I'm guessing that your problems are to do with one or more of these subjects: rotted-out floor, worn-out or just plain elderly appliances, or at the worst, rear separation.

Don't worry, as you probably already know, there is tons of great information and help available here.

I'm looking forward to seeing some photos of the interior of your 'Stream!

Looks great from here...

the fact that it needs work is normal, and will be for your entire ownership, near as I can tell.

Heck we have friends with a fairly nice '08 SOB trailer that has spent months back at the dealership for (major) warranty issues, and since it has come out of warranty, they have a steady list of things to fix/change/update they need to do, every time they go out camping. Just part of it. The difference is, when they get theirs all fixed up, they still just have a SOB.

and yes, I try to remind them of that whenever I can..lol

Thanks to all of you for your kind words and willingness to help advise a rookie.
I will be asking a lot of questions for a while.
