New from Ohio / Hello!

Hello all

My wife and I just purchased a 27FB twin Signature Airstream. Looking forward to traveling and camping with planned trips to just about everywhere.

Tow vehicle is a Ford F150 Ecoboost 6 Platinum.

I have already used lots and lots of info from this forum to help us make up our minds as to what to buy and i am looking forward to talking with all of you.

We've had quite a few minor issues so far that I've either fixed or are scheduled to be fixed at the dealer. We also are about 2 3/4 hrs from Jackson Center.

I've replaced the Goodyears with Maxxis tires. One of the belts had already broken (170 miles). I will get that one replaced and put them all up for sale. Added TST sensors (with steel valves).

My wife Doty is in charge of the inside and has purchased plates and accessories for the kitchen. New sheets, blankets towels and it goes on and on.

I've taken over the outside of the "ship" and have used Corrosion X on all the rivets and steel parts (stabilizers). Cleaned up all the panels from the sloppy sealant, and cleaned all of the windows and behind panels.

The dealer said he had the trailer thoroughly cleaned. My wife spent 10 hours cleaning it for real. Sawdust everywhere, screws, bolts and trim leftovers. Not complaining, just don't tell me it was thoroughly cleaned.

We had a very good experience at the dealer. We went to see the models, knew what we wanted to compare, and made the decision right then. Fastest sale Bruce ever had. We spent about 7 hours with him. He gave us his cell phone number and said, "Call me anytime of the day or night if you run into a problem". We did. Hayducy in Columbus was our dealer. We are happy with them so far.

Our ship has a rear wireless camera and is very very useful driving in traffic. We left the dealer with the trailer and entered a trial by fire immediately. Columbus's northern bypass is all torn up and required a lot of lane changing. It also was evening rush hour! I am used to pulling commercial trailers with my work so it was not as bad as I was anticipating. The rest of the trip was uneventful. The ford 150 Ecoboost is a dream with its 6-speed transmission.

So that's a start. We are looking to converse with a lot of you over the coming years. Thanks for all the help you've already given us through all the informative threads.

Tom & Doty

Congratulations on your acquisition Welcome to the forums and greetings from central Kentucky. Sounds like you have everything either in place or planned. Wishing you safe travels and smokeless campfires (yours and your neighbors').

Congratulations and welcome! Bruce Miller was our salesman at Haydocy, also, and really have enjoyed him before, during and after the sale. We are taking the trailer in tomorrow for its first service after owning it a year and 6000 miles so will find out if their service is as good as their sales process (am guessing it is). Having the mothership only an hour from home provides an extra layer of security, just in case.
