New from NJ & Looking

Hi. Always dreamed of owning an Airstream. Searching the classifieds and looking at different models. Narrowing to FC or Classic 30. Have e mailed a seller on Airstream Classifieds multiple times with no reply yet ad still up. I donít think iím doing something wrong since I received mail from admin saying my message was sent so Iíll keep looking. I also have tried to find a Pendleton knowing are hard to find. Any advice appreciated. (Iím coming over from the dark side, used to have a class A)☘️

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

Don't be discouraged in your search. Sometimes it take a while to find the right Airstream. Also try rvtrader.com and Ebay.

Good luck in your quest. Please keep us posted, and ask any questions that you may have.

Brian

You should consider a trip to Colonial Airstream in NJ - they have a ton of units on the lot that you can walk through and figure out exactly what you want. Out the door pricing for new units is pretty much the same as 2-3 year old units in todayís marketplace.

Echoing a Colonial trip as worthwhile. Not far from you Mc2. Sitting in the “full scale models” gives one an immediate sense of place.

Welcome to the forum!

Third vote for a trip to Colonial. Plan to spend a lot of time in various models to find the one that feels right. Colonial won't rush you, take your time.

A trip to a dealership is definitely a good idea. Colonial has a good reputation. No harm in making a day trip and just sitting inside trailers reading a book. Give some serious thought to how you would use the trailer, where you are going to store certain items, etc.

Consider the Hershey RV show in September. Airstream has a large presence at the show and will have a number of floorplans on display although Colonial probably has as many or more trailers (some used) to choose from.

Please consider starting a thread about your transition from a Class A to a trailer. Lots of people have gone from one side to the other and back again but it would be interesting to hear your comments before, during and after the transition. The thread could be your "blog" of sorts without the hassle of having your own web page.

Best wishes on your search - your trailer is out there.

Search results for earlier threads on going from a Class A to an AS:

. . . including this fairly recent albeit short one:

Good luck,

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and encouragement! I did ride down to Colonial yesterday and by luck they were having an open house! No pressure and we sat in all models. We kept going back and sitting in the Classic 30. From our travels in the class A (our first RV) we had ideas about what was most important in the AS. You are correct in the price. Did seem to be better than many used on line. We are looking at a 2018. Will try and start a thread on why we switched and chose Airstream over other TT’s. Thanks again!

Welcome from Colorado. We have a 1986 Classic Limited that's been in the family since new. It was passed down to us in 05. It has the hickory cabinetry which we really like. I also am working on a 1975 Overlander International 27'. I like the way this trailer was built. My son has a 69 Globetrotter. I don't like the way that trailer was built.

The new Classic is a classic. It is beautiful as you well know. Maybe that will be your final decision. If so, it will last a very long time.

I bought the Overlander on the Classifieds here on Air Forums. I too had trouble with e-mail response. I think sometimes the seller doesn't post the ad as sold. There are lots of Airstreams for sale right now. The market is pretty hot. Don't be discouraged, you will find the trailer you want.

David
