New AS Owner

Hi all, will be taking delivery of a new 19' Safari SE in the next couple of weeks. It is on the assembly line this week! I am looking forward to our first trip, and since I am an artist/photographer, can't wait to include the Safari! Any suggestions for a new AS owner? We have had several motorhomes, and are fairly used to the camping scene, but are new to towing and the travel trailer in general. We have a new 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a hemi, so towing is not a problem, but concerned about sway and weight distribution. Thanks to the forum, I noticed another "newbie" with the same ?? which answered mine.

Looking forward to seeing you on the road!

Make "super sure" that you have a full sway control hitch with a proper load equalizing rating.

Excessive rated hitches will damage the trailer.

Also, don't try to save a few bucks on the hitch. Get what you need, whatever the cost.

Your trailer and family will love you for it.

Hi Andy, thanks for your reply. The product I was considering was the equalizer and is rated 600#/6000# Since the safari is 4500# GVWR is this going to be OK? The tongue rating for the jeep is 750#.

Welcome to the forums, ncbambi...as a fellow 19' Bambi SE owner I can tell you that you are going to love it... We use an Equilizer hitch set up and find it totally adequate and easy to hitch and un-hitch...

Enjoy your new baby and maybe we'lll see you down the road!
