New Argosy owner
I just purchased a 1975 Argosy, they say it is a 25 ft but I can't find anything on a 25 ft. just 24 or 26. The one I bought has 4 bunk beds and a double bed that folds out from the dinette. Does anyone know if there is a visual way of telling between the 24 and 26 or will I have to get out the measuring tape once I pick it up. Naything special I should be aware of on these campers or anything special about towing them. Thanks in advance, I am really looking forward to being a member of the Airstream family. Thanks again.

Ask them what number comes after the "Minuet" sticker outside the camper. This will tell you how many meters it is. Multiply it by 3.28 and it will tell you roughly how many feet it is. I am a new owner as well, so anyone out there with more knowledge about it, please correct me if I am wrong.

Argosy had 2 distinct lables. The Argosys which are measured in feet say something like Argosy 24 or 26 and the Minuets (measured in metres) will say Minuet 6.0 or 6.7. The Minuets are narrower than the standard Argosys and were made in 77 - 79.
All Argosys are measured from the bumper tot he ball and leghts are approximate. So an Argosy 24 might actually be a few inches shorter.
Here are some pics of a 26 with bunk beds, 1976Argosy26-6
And a 24 with bunks 1975Argosy24-7

Welcome to the Forums. I live just south of Collierville and am lusting for a 22' Argosy currently in the classifieds here. Glad to offer help if you need it.

I'm guessing you just bought the one on ebay from Grand Rapids. I think its a 24 footer. If thats the one, it looks like its in pretty nice shape. The bunks will be handy. I have a '75 26 footer and the big drawback to these trailers is they don't have enough sleeping positions. Without the bunks, they only sleep 4 and 2 of those should be pretty friendly with each other. Good luck with your Argosy. Roger

Thanks a lot Janet that was awesome. I believe from the pics that the one I purchased is the 24 it has the same paint scheme and basic layout. Yes I did just win an ebay auction for this Argosy. It looks to be in good shape so I will be able to slowly restore it to look as nice as some I've seen on here while using it for camping in the meantime. I know I will never get it as nice as some I've seen in here, my goodness granite counter tops and floors, beautiful wood furnishings or loaded with stainless steel or aluminum, custom made furniture and cabinetts, unbelievable. I have a friend who is an artist who happens to be very talented with airbrushing as well whom I hope to enlist to paint a mural on the little beauty. I look forward to this new adventure. Thanks for the help.

Easiest way is use the VIN -- 24T7V1400 would, for example, be 24 feet, twin, 1977 manufacture, built in Versailles, OH, #1400 on the production line. We are brand new owners also, picking ours up Monday. Congrats and welcome! Hope it goes great 4 u.

Thanks, I have a long drive Monday and Tuesday. I'm looking at about 1500 miles round trip, nothing like breaking it in right, huh.

I don't know how I missed this post but I did. Where do you live? I actually live across the street from Collierville city limits. I'm in the county so I can still shoot guns, ride dirt bikes, have bon fires, and park my Argosy in my driveway( I'm hoping I have room to swing it into the barn, it'll be a tight turn). See ya on the road soon I hope.

Just off of Byhalia Road in Marshall County. As soon as you cross the line, we are in the subdivision on the left. If I wasn't camping this weekend I'd invite myself over for a look see.

Anytime. We are very laid back around my homestead, you have to be when you live in a barn. My kids are some of the only ones that can say they were actually raised in a barn and they love it, they will fight us tooth and nail when it's time to move into a house.

I too wanted to say welcome... I remember the feeling of coming home with my new trailer very well, kind of like bringing home a child the first time. Thank God, I don't have to change diapers on the Airstream too. Does yours have those inspirational 1970's colors?

You mean that beautiful avacado green? If you do then yes I have thos 70's inspirational colors. It matches the fridge we had when I was in grade school. Kinda like green pea baby food after it makes it's exit, wife says awe it's just retro and that's in.

Could we get away with even calling it art deco?? That sounds even more fashionable.

Not quite sure what happened to color choices in the 1970's... I think it was a acid hangover from the 1960's. In 1975 my parents bought their first new car. It was a Volvo wagon and we picked it up from the factory in Sweden (We were stationed in Germany with the Army, so Sweden was right next door). I can clearly remember thinking what were they thinking when they chose that color. It was that green... green goddess, avacado, pea green, vomit green is how I discribed it. Fortunately paint technology was not the best in 1975 and by 1980 it had faded to a more fern color that was less visually offensive. Those colors are very retro now and some folks actually seek them out. You have to either like them, change them, or smoke a lot of grass and learn to dig the groovy vibe they produce. In 1962 the colors were soothing. My Overlander has a great blue in the bathroom, that has actually inspired some color changes in our house and the light pink Dometic is so soothing to me that I plan to have it matched as a wall color for Anna's main salon. Good luck with that green, Dude... By the way, got some photos you can lay on a brother?

I'm really glad someone here got this trailer. I was considering bidding on it but couldn't pull the trigger. Welcome.
