New Airstreamr, check this one out !

Hello everyone.

This is an amazing website of resources! I have the opportunity to get the following airstream from my folks at no charge. It has been in Illinois for several years and my plan is to bring it to Arizona where I live. It needs new tires and bearing and needs to get checked out before the long haul. I'll be towing with me 2015 Durango RT. Can you guys tell me a bit more about this trailer ? I believe it's a 25-27 mid 70s overlander ???

It's actually in very good condition, my plan would be to gut most of it to lighten it up and renovation with some newer modern finishers and technology

Thanks

Paul

Welcome from Colorado: Always nice to meet someone interested in vintage Airstreams. You posted some pretty good photos of the trailer as it sits in the woods. Here is what I can decipher from the VIN you posted:

I International trim level
27 Length of the trailer in feet
D Double bed layout
2 1972 model year
J Built in Jackson Center.

This is just my guess. We shall see how correct I am as others more knowledgeable than me join in.

I do see the same tail light cluster that my son'e 69 trailer has. My 75 Overlander has different tail light clusters. I do see some of the cabinets look different than my 75 Overlander. Maybe I see some classic "Leg o Matic" chairs around the table. Yes, the trailer appears in good condition.

I bet you well know about the moisture damage these 70s trailers are subject to due to a poor sealing design at the rear of the trailer. Chances are you will embark on a significant rebuild project from the ground up. The result will be a very nice Overlander International that you will likely be able to recover your material costs, maybe not your hard labor.

I bought a 75 Overlander International last fall. It is the 4th trailer I've done extensive work on. I enjoy renovating these vintage Airstreams and I enjoy traveling in them. Below are a couple photos of my trailer. Currently I have it all torn apart repairing the rear end separation, broken waste water tanks, and faulty appliances. I have new axles on order. I hope to make it a nice and reliable family trailer that both my son's families and us can use.
