New Airstream Black Water

When looking over the specs, I noticed that the 25 SS and the 23 and the 30 only have a black water tank capacity of 18 gallons. This seems odd since most Safaris offer around twice the capicity. Stranger still, the 30 Safari offers the greatest sleeping capacity. Common sense would suggest that the more people in a trailer, the more black water capacity needed. Am I missing something here?

Hi, and welcome to the forums!
It doesn't sound right. Why not empty the black tank, and fill it with 5 gallon jugs of water? Then you will know how much yours will hold.

Terry, I haven't bought an Airstream yet. I am just trying to figure out if this spec is a critical factor to consider.

18 gallons sounds like a whole lot of ummm stuff. Surely, the other units dont carry 40 gallons of black water......Maybe you get a bigger grey tank?

My rig has been monkeyed with, but Im guessing somewhere around 10g black and 3o grey give or take

Rodney, for what you say, it sounds as though 18 gallons should be enough for say three days and I really need not be concerned. So should I buy an Airstream? Do you love your Airstream?

Bret --- 18 gals is more than enough for three days. It may be good for a week or even more if used carefully. Remember you don't flush it like a toilet at home, and it's not necessary to flush every time you take a "Leak"!!!

I cant even imagine being in anything else. I bought mine at the end of last summer. I have had it on the Great Lakes, the Smokies and middle Tn, and Wyoming and back so far. Towing is a dream. I have been full time in mine since April 1 and will go to the begining of Nov at least. Couldnt be happier.

Pieman
.

Well, as they say during a drought here in Colorado: "If it's yellow, just be mellow. If it's brown, then flush it down. "Now having said that, I do ask that you consider I will have two boys, age 6 and ten, along with my wife with me. Buying an Airstream is a big invest and I just want to make sure I cover all the bases.

Any other thoughts, Pieman, you have for a person considering an Airstream?

HI Chaos, I checked out your website. Very cool. I like the idea of your Airstream being a big camera bag. Your pcitures across the country are breat. I especially like the portraits of you. One day you need to take a trip to Colorado.

Black Water Tank Capacities

Bret-
I looked at the specs on the AS Website also. What is quite strange is that if your look at the specs for a 25 SS Special Edition, it shows the black water tank @ 39 gals. That makes no sense. I would call or email Airstream and ask if their specs list has a typo.
