Smile New 65 Safari Owners

We are so excited to begin our restoration of our 65 Safari. We have been viewing postings on the Airstream Forms for a few months now and are confident that when problems or questions arise you will be there to help. We have been impressed with the restorations that we have seen and the documentation of the steps taken to get to the finish. When we looked at the 65 Safari the first time we noticed that there was a a name plate that said "For 2 Saints". Our last name is St. Pierre. We found out the PO's last name was Saint.....so fate took over and we had to purchase the trailer! Our adventure begins!

Welcome to the forums and 65 vintage airstream ownership. We found ours 1 1/2 years ago and spent a year updating/restoring/polishing. It was our labor of love. Everywhere we go people what to see it. There is something about the 65 with the red Mahagony wood that makes them so warm. I wish you luck.....Tim

Thank You

I enjoy looking at pictures of finished restorations. It gives us hope that a year (or more) from now we will really have a great Safari. We have taken out the floor this week and found a 1964 penny and nickel. We are looking for the long lost stash of money, but no luck...

Good luck with your project and don't give up, keep the dream. Don't underestimate the time factor in getting all the work done. I worked on my TW for a year and a half and thought it would take 6 months. Sometimes I got so disgusted that I wondered why I ever thought about an old Airstream. Last week we went camping in it for the first time. We had a grand time. No, it is not fancy like the new ones but the pride of bringing an old trailer back to life was wonderful. Spent 5 nights in the Trade Wind and will never go back to a tent. Already have several more trips planned before Christmas.

Best of luck.

Congratulations on your adopting a fine Airstream.
I am in the middle of restoring a '65 Safari in Utah.
Looks like you are going after it in a big way.
Good luck with it, they are great units.
I am posting my progress here:
