Need help from experienced Airstreamer in Baltimore area

Hi,

I recently purchased a 1977 27' Airstream Overlander.

I am looking to meet up with someone who can walk through the Airstream and show me how to operate the various functions.

So far, I have good batteries and the 12 volt system is working.

I have an electric cord connected and have electrical power though I am just plugged in to a standard outlet, not a 30 amp outlet.

I have gas. Both the stove and furnace are operating.

I haven't tested the water systems because I am not sure howe to properly winterize the system when I am finished testing.

In short, is there anybody in the area (21286 Towson) that could come by and help familiarize me with the operations and need to knows before I undertake any travel.

You are off to a good start. You will learn a lot on this forum.

But you have two problems.

#1 Winter will make it hard to test the fridge, and the plumbing, and uncomfortably cold to do much of anything.

#2 You might not know what you don't know.

My advice would be to start at the start
#1 Tires, brakes, and bearings
#2 Check the pipes and coils in the rear of the fridge for a goldfish green
ooze …it's dangerous
#3 you said your battery was good, but the correct way to check it is to charge it for a few days and unplug the power from the house, let it sit for a day or so and test the voltage of the battery, if it reads less than 12.6 volts, start saving for a new batt.

12.6 volts is at 50% of battery capacity! This was as low as I let my batteries get when I used wet cell batteries.

If a freshly charged battery only came up to 12.6 after a day - you need new batteries!
