Argosy?
Charlie, Welcome to the forums! I'm wondering what trailer you have? First your profile in the Avatar says you have a 1964 24' Tradewind that would be an Airstream. Secondly, They never made Argosy trailers in 1964! What is it really? What ever it is $1900.00 is a great price if everything works and it is in good condition. Again Welcome. Ed

Could be someone painted an Airstream to keep the heat down. Gallons and gallons of stripper. Dave

Your avatar is the little picture that some of us have to the left of our posts. For example, mine at the moment is Trudy, our Bull Terrier. Lots of people have a little picture of their trailer there.
Up near the top of the page you'll see a link labeled "User CP" which is your User Control Panel. Click that, and one of the options is to edit your avatar (there are lots of other options as well that let you change or add things in your profile, etc.) You can either upload a small picture, or select from a short list of ready-made avatars, but at the moment there's not an Argosy trailer on the ready-made ones.

Argosy for sure
I was going to write and tell you that it is definately an Argosy because it has one piece end caps and they are made from steel. Airstreams are all aluminum and the end caps are made up of several pieces. Welcome to the forum. To answer your question about the furnace keeping things from freezing. It would depend on the outside temperature. The water lines are all inside the rig above the floor, but there are some that run thru some pretty tight spaces that would make air circulation difficult. If you skirted around the bottom of the rig it would help. You might be good to 0 degrees F with skirting.

winter camping
thanks, that's good to know-I have camped in lots of things in cold climates, from tipi/school bus/shack built in hole in the ground to my current motor home.will just be nice to be able to keep water from freezing by keeping my living space warm.would this also apply to the fresh water and grey/black water tanks? considering a small wood/coal stove-read some interesting threads about them in the winter camping forum.wondering why you couldn't run a flue through one of the vents on top? anybody ever seen one of those bucket a day water heater stoves? haven't picked up camper yet but interested in the quality/dependability of the furnace...c

Charlie
Welcome to the wonderful world of Airstreams (and Argosys). I knew your trailer was an Argosy by the curved glass in the front. Airstreams did not come with curved glass until many years later. I guess they tried it out on the Argosys first.
I agree that you need to put skirting around the trailer to keep from freezing your water lines. It will also reduce your heat loss a lot and therefore your cost to heat will be much lower. I would also insulate your roof vents and some of the windows that you don't need.
