My first Airstream - 69 Ambassador

We got our 1969 ambassador about a month ago. I have done all new plumbing (pex) and faucets $420,gone through the original heater $0, repaired original A/C $32. The cooling unit on frig is the only big thing left. I think? I am having alot of fun working on it. The parts have been easy to find, but a few are proving more difficult. The trailer is in good structural shape and mostly original. This may be becoming an obsession!

Hi and welcome!

You very well may have caught 'aluminitus' - and that's a good thing.

Post some pictures of your new obsession, and wade through all the great info here on the forums. There's lots of vintage owners here with a wealth of knowledge.

Cheers!

There is way too much on axles on the forums, but check them out on your 69.

Hey lahrfarm! Welcome and congratulations on your recent purchase. As you've discovered, many parts are readily available for these old Airstreams while some are harder to come by, and some are made of un-obtainium.

IIRC the 1969 year model was the first to have frontal wing windows (the cuved ones located on each side of the front window). The 69 wing windows are unique as they had three right angle corners (upper inside corner and both lower corners) each as opposed to just two right angle corners (both inside corners) on the later year models. As such they can be very difficult to find. If you don't have a rock guard installed over them it might be something to consider adding to your list.

And as others have stated, we do like seeing photographs showing off your rig and any improvements you make.

Best of Luck and Congrats Again,

Kevin

The axles are good! I do need to replace tires because the age is unknown. The PO installed a rock guard. I will try to get some pic's of it. I am sure I will find other things as I use it and learn more.
