My crazy life...boat

Always loved the nostalgia and look of all the Airstream products. I figured the quality of products used would be a little higher and better my chances of finding parts. I bought this 1996 Land yacht 30 foot two weeks ago. I flew from Western NC to pearland tx , took a cab from the airport, met a nice couple at the storage facility, looked it over, went to the bank, closed the deal, drove all the way through Houston through Dallas to Lewisville Texas to end up in a campground in the middle of the night. When I was coming into Dallas I seriously thought a funnel cloud was going to drop down out of the sky. I came to Dallas because my 13 year old daughter has to come to Medical City hospital for multiple operations. I am here to find a job a place to live then I will return to North Carolina and gather up my family. I must have gotten a crash course in how to operate all the systems on a motorhome. I have also fallen in love with this Airstream land yacht. When I left the campground and headed for North Carolina the only thing it wasn't working was the step. I am a mechanic and really just didn't have the time to troubleshoot it. I even enjoyed working on it. Thanks for having me on the forum... Kurt

Welcome, and best of luck with you daughter's medical procedures.

I lived in Dallas during law school, and the threat of tornados scared the beejeezus out of me. You know a hurricane is coming, but the tornados just appear.

Best wishes.

I was able to find a job in Dallas but still working out place to stay. Had to jet back to NC in my life boat due to daughters upcoming surgery this week in Cincinnati. Texas is really growing on me. The step on motor home was working the whole time in Texas. When I got ready to leave it would not retract. Two other things I will address when I get home are ; exhaust manifold leak and low tone vibration that only shows up 60 mph ish and higher. Sounds like it's drive line related. Maybe shaft, joints, isolators or the like. Frequency is fast so I don't think it's wheel bearing. We'll see. Soon as we are done here in Cincinnati, it's back to NC, then on to Texas.... permanently.

Congratulations on your acquisition of a Land Yacht and welcome to the forums. Hello and greetings from central Kentucky. We stayed in Lewisville a couple of weeks back in March. Other than the construction going on, it's a nice city.

So when is this..."old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?
