I am excited about becoming a new member and I have a whole lot of questions!! I just purchased a 1958
Overlander to go with my 1958
Chevy Apache Suburban. I am very new to all this but excited and eager to learn. I have been researching Airstream restoration and a little nervous about the process, but with all the information out there, and help from all of you, I think I will get through it ok.
As you can see from the pics that I was having a little fun shining up a few sections but I know that I need to look at pulling up the floor first and repairing the back part of the frame that attaches to the back bumper (or a complete frame off restoration?). I need a back bumper too if anyone knows where I can find one :) I think I will also have to replace the belly skin since it has a few large cut out sections? Also the frame to the door steps (steps are missing) is quite rusted and a piece is missing so I need some information about what to do with that.
Also, the hitch Jack gave out (1:16 in the video) and was hoping that there is a way to rebuild/salvage it? I would really like to keep it and not replace it with a newer one if all possible.
I have plenty more questions but this is a good start for me.
I will send pics and videos of the (slow) progress. Here are a few to start you off. I appreciate all your help in advance and looking forward to learning more about the Airstream life!
