Much information needed
I just bought a 72 31ft sovereign the previous owner is pretty old and can't remember how anything works. is there some place i can get information on this unit. i do have some things i really would like to know about now.
1. is there a power invertor on this unit
2. how do you get the stuff that looks like peeled wax out of windows on top of trailer.
3. does the battery charge automatically when pluged into 110 power
I have a lot more questions but will save for later.
thanks, richard

welcome to the forums!
Since your 'new" trailer is 34 years old, no one but the PO knows any of these answers...any number of things could have been changed over the years. But as configured by the factory:
it had a "converter", which is different from an "inverter"...and it will charge your battery when its plugged in...IF its working properly. It'll also over-charge it, so beware of that.
There is a "search" feature on the forum. try searching for terms like "univolt" (the brand name of the converters installed by airstream), "vista view windows", for threads about your window problem. you'll find hours and hours of reading pleasure...

Richard, Welcome to the forum. You can get an owners manual and a service manual from what's her name in Ohio, someone fill in the blanks for me on this please....
Ok, about your questions....
1.(and 3.) Your trailer came with a convertor called a Univolt. It is powered on when you plug into shore power. If it is functioning you should here it hummmmm. It also charges the battery and often will over charge the battery. These were good units at the time, but many members have replaced these with the better units that are available today.
2. Those are your vista view windows, mine look like crap also. Take a look at this proceedure by balrgn on how to repair those. http://www.balrgn.com/Airstream/Vist...Vista_View.htm
Try the search feature located on the top of the screen to get as much information as you can. If you search on Vista View windows or univolt you will have a lifetime of information.

Be aware there are two versions of "Vista-view" windows . One has two panes of glass while the other has one glass pane and one plastic pane . They require two different methods of repair . Both methods are on here some where , but first you need to determine which type you have. Good luck

Richard-
1. An "inverter" converts 12v-DC to 120v-AC. The trailers of this era did not have them. It may have been an addition by the prior owner.
2. The Univolt (converter) on my rear bath '72 is located in the rear curbside closet. You remove the false floor first, the there's an access panel on the right side wall of the closet. Open that up and you should see the Univolt. The part that faces out is the fuse panel. The unit is about the size of a tall shoebox and sits with it's long part tucked in under the bathtub.
3. The Univolt should charge your battery as well as provide 12v to your trailer when plugged in.
Good luck!

31 footer
I have the same unit rear bath and mid twins in mine. The unilvolt is in the rear right side storage area in mine tucked toward the under side of the bath tub. It should charge when plugged into the wall or your tow vehicle if wired for it (tow vehicle)
