Moving on up

Hello forum members! We're a family of four who love camping. We have been campers since the boys were small: first it was tents, then 5 yrs ago we bought a cheap tent trailer off Craigslist. It didn't have a heater or A/C, and we had to buy a cassette potty to reduce night time trips to the bath house, but we really enjoyed being off the ground and protected from inclement weather when necessary. We upgraded in the summer of '16 to a used 19ft travel trailer, which has really expanded our ability to camp when the weather isn't perfect. However, we've discovered that the sleeping arrangements aren't ideal, and the TT is pretty tight with two adults and two teenaged boys!

DH has always loved Airstreams, and I am a research hound so when DH said he wanted to upgrade us to a bigger trailer, I immediately engaged my Google-fu and ended up here! I've been lurking for a while, but finally thought it'd be a good idea to intro our family.

We camp mostly in national and state parks, and are used to boondocking/dry camping. DH has already rigged our TT up with solar (worked great even when we were in Yosemite in 30F weather and barely any sun), so we will probably do the same type of thing with any 'new' trailer we purchase. I say 'new' because if we go AS, we'll be looking at a 80s-90s model in the 25ft range.

Anyways, looking forward to hanging out here and learning as much as possible as we dream and plan for our future camping/travel!

Welcome to the forums. We have had our 24 footer for 16 years and it has provided my family with many happy trips and tons of memories. We are down to one child still at home and have to admit that the wife and I are enjoying the extra room when we are out traveling. Make sure that you include the entire family in your inspections so that you wind up with a unit everyone is comfortable in.

We just went from a pop up to our 1974 26' Argosy. It is awesome. I live in Capo Beach. My wife and I have two boys ages 4 and 3. The trailer is awesome. I would be happy to show you our trailer. It is definitely a labor off love and dollars. I can show you some mistakes we made and some that we didn't.

That was home to legends. Phil, Hobie, and Flippy. I don't suppose you knew them?

Wow, Peter, that would be great! I think we might be on the same Facebook Argosy group, since I've seen photos of your newly painted Argosy on FB. I'll message you there! Thank you so much for your kind offer!
