Maryland newcomers

We are looking forward to learning of local places to take our new Airstream. Any advice on a great place to make our first outing would be appreciated.

We always look for federal, state and county parks first. We avoid most commercial establishments most of the time.
There are apps that show what's out there (Allstays Camp and RV for instance).
Electric and water are nice until you get a handle on usage, sewer is easy to live without for a few days or more...
You will have a great time!

How about tailgating at Beaver Stadium!
It's homecoming weekend for the Penn State vs Maryland game.
Great tailgating,RV friendly atmosphere.

PM me if you need anymore information. Hope to see you there!

Welcome! The North East loop at Elk Neck State Park has full hookups and reasonably level sites, including some that are pull thru (avoid #17 and the giant acorns). Closer to you are Greenbrier SP and Cunningham Falls SP - they are power only but are quite nice. We like both Caledonia and Pine Grove Furnace State Parks in Pennsylvania also.

When is your first trip?

Our first trip is 10/15 to Little Bennet Regional Park in clarksburg md. We are also looking for a place to store the trailer close to home. For now, I found a place in jessup md.

Please share how you like Little Bennett! It would be a quick getaway for us, but not in our backyard like Patapsco.

It's a little further than Jessup, but we're very happy with BWI Boat and RV Storage. http://www.bwiboatrvstorage.com/ It's indoor storage, don't have to winterize, and they hook it up to power so the fridge is cold when you pick it up. Tons of Airstreams :-)

Little Bennett was a nice stay, though our space was occupied by German Girl Scouts who politely left. Nice tree canopy, level pad and nature paths.

This weekend I am trying Elk Neck per the recommendation above!

I hope you like Elk Neck!

FWIW, if you want to avoid the I-95N toll ($24 for 4 axles) at the Tydings bridge you can get off at exit 85 and take backroads across the Conowingo Dam, through Rising Sun, and then down to Elk Neck.

In the Spring, North Bend ACE Campground in Virginia. It was our first adventure in our 28' Serenity. Awesome campground, great bike trails, water, private sites.

We went to Lums Pond State Park, Delaware last weekend and it was fantastic. They have full hookups this year and the sites are very spacious! Lums is about 20 miles east of Elk Neck.
