Lower 48 States in 2 years in Airstream Interstate

Two years ago we purchased a 2005 Airstream Interstate with the purpose of traveling the lower 48 states. After working out a few kinks with Airstream, we embarked on the journey of a lifetime seeing our beautiful country the way it should be seen – by the road. Our trek took us through all the National Parks and Monuments, the top 10 points of interest in each state, historical areas (Civil War, Mormon trail, Oregon Trail, California Trail), visiting old friends, and admiring each and every gorgeous sunset – never traveling the same road twice.

The RV out performed our expectations as we traversed the ridges, peaks and hairpin turns of the mountainous roads, getting between 19-24 miles per gallon (averaging 22). We chose the Interstate for flexibility, reliability and quality. It is built on a Freightliner chassis with a Mercedes Turbo diesel engine. Service managers stated this engine should travel over a million miles with great reliability.

We spent every night in the Interstate whether sun, cold, rain or even sleet, and ate 95 percent of our meals in the unit. We never felt cramped but very comfortable and roomy. We stayed in RV Parks rated 8.5-10, National Camp Grounds and State Parks.

Our journey has ended with our 48th state and now we are selling our Interstate. It can be viewed at www.craigslist.com in Philadelphia or Delaware (search for Airstream), and on RVSearch.com The Best Way to Buy or Sell an RV!. The unit is in near MINT condition and fully loaded with options and carries a 7 year 100,000 mile Platinum warranty.

This is a perfect way to travel since the Interstate does not have the restrictions that many RVs present and there is no reason to tow another vehicle for local transportation. We started this journey as “condo campers” and have found that this is better than any condo.

An unforgettable journey of a lifetime!

Don't see it on CL. Why not run a free ad on this site?

Where are the pictures of the trip?
