Looks like we're going to 'Do It!'

We will be leaving at 7 am tomorrow morning to trade in our 1984 Avion 30' for a 2011 34' classic AIRSTREAM!!!!! We've owned the Avion for the last 2.5 years and loved it. (It was our first camper; we originally wanted an AS when we found the Avion.) We are laying down a chunk of change for this baby....please tell me it will be worth it...........

He's leaving now......

ETD was 7 am......it's 6:09 am and DH is pulling out of the driveway with the old Avion. I can't go because our 15 year old daughter has to volunteer today, and I have to get my classroom ready for my 2nd graders on Monday. (I just changed schools; today is the only day I have to do this.....since tomorrow we will be loading the trailer for our Thanksgiving ADVENTURE!!!) Still a bit apprehensive about the money aspect, but I am looking at this as a "retirement" purchase.(Instead of a second house in the NC mountains, we are purchasing a house on wheels......) We are already have reservations to go to Yellowstone next summer! It's amazing how much "stuff" we accumulated over the last 2.5 years.....I swear the Avion was part chipmunk...took us about two hours to unload everything and that was with all three of us working! Will post more tonight when the new baby is home!!!!

oops....

I'm a little miffed right now....DH drove 4 hours to "seal the deal" and he just wants to bring the AS home. I'm saying "not so fast." Big bucks here and it seems to me, there might be a little "misrepresentation" going on. We watched a UTube video, shot by the dealer, of this #6 out of 25 34' classic. It showed no oven, but it did have a microwave. Then we saw pictures of this unit same (pre-owned now), with an oven and what appeared to be a microwave. Never could pull up the specs on it. I asked my hubby to question the no oven/now oven thing but he said he "forgot." Now my husband says it didn't come with the microwave from the factory.....my point is that the pictures and the video claimed to be of the same unit.....but didn't show the same stuff. I don't want to plunk down all this money and now I have to shell out more for a microwave.....that should have been included.....according to the video.........

Microwaves are cheap (ours was $40), but I understand how the possible misrepresentation irks you. Hopefully the photos on the website are mixed up, not hard to do when you are selling a bunch of similar models.

I'd be more concerned about filiform corrosion in Fla. Take a good look at the door hinges and tail lights as they are the first places it is usually seen. And check the rest of it too for filiform.

I hope this works out for you and your maiden trip is a great time.

"witchy wife"

Well...... microwave is coming to our house from AS. First the salesrep told my hubby that this unit didn't come with a microwave.....then the rep told me the previous owners pulled the microwave out and had him replace it with a hickory door to cover the microwave-less hole (a $350.00 value he said.) Anyway, my point was made and I guess they figured they better not lose the deal over a microwave......

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!!

Congrats on the purchase and the beginning of new chapter about to be written, with the 34 footer. Sounds like a nice "new" environment to cook a turkey in, on Thursday!

Wishing you good luck and many new memories with the Family. Happy Thanksgiving.
