Looking for my 1st AS (vintage)

OK folks I'm looking for a vintage mid 60's AS. Ideally a 65 Safari, but not against an Overlander or Sovereign. I will almost definitely do some updates and may 1/2 to full time in it.

I know that I can plan on pulling the shell to replace the floor and may have to do frame repairs. Looking at the AS factory website I can see that the additional stringer for a roof mounted A/C was an option in the early 60's, Is it common or should I plan on a basement A/C or heat pump?

If I go the basement heat pump it would be great when I'm on the grid, but offline no propane heat. So has anybody put a propane fireplace in a vintage AS??? (I like the idea)

Oh why a 65 Safari? Cuz I'll look vintage, if not downright cool pulling into a RV park. What better to pull behind a 65 Pontiac Catalina Safari!

Yeah! 65 Safari Rocks! I got mine with an A/C, I think your odds are good. And my shell doesn't need to come off.

Just look hard.

Come on a (1965) Safari with me!

Adding a AC is not that big of a deal...not sure a 'basement' version is even an might leave skid marks in the pavement...

ALL of the OEM refridge stuff was propane...(within reason)

keep reading... this place is a gold (silver) mine for info...
