Smile London Calling, London Calling....

Well a first post to say high to you all say how glad i am to have found this great resource...

Im a 35, London based and do a lot of camping in the UK with my girlfriend and a two year old small person.....

Thinking it is time to upgrade from a tent to a travel trailer and love the look of the classic Airstreams.

Two friends have some, one Landyacht, not sure the length, though mid 20's i guess and one 1965 Bambi.

I have been looking for an Airstream for a week now, a 15-17ft one, any age pre-1975ish, just missed one two days ago, sold, a peachy 1965 17ft.

Look forward to joining in here

Hi, ansd welcome to the forums. We have many forums members here from your side of the pond. As far as trailers, from what I understand of the UK's size limitations, you will probably be looking for something less than 25 feet long, and either a pre-1969 unit, or an Argosy Minuet from the late 1970's.
1969 was the first year Airstream increased the width of their trailers. The Minuets were narrower than similar era Airstreams.

Welcome addyman. Just about everything you would want to know about Airstreams is to be found here. Good luck on your hunt for a trailer. Here in the States, that size range is the one that is most sought after.

California here.

Hi and welcome. My wife and I drove for a couple of weeks touring from Gloucester to Cornwall a few years ago. We were pleasantly surprised to see the popularity of 'caravaning' in the UK. My cousin has one too. Yes, after experiencing the narrow winding coastal roads particularly in Cornwall we would suggest a pre-'69 Airstream 22' and under. Ours is 24' and would be the very max for 'off the beaten track' touring. Your 'carriageways' are beautiful, at least the ones we drove. The forums has members that volunteer to check thouroughly any coach you may be interested in. Their reports will save you much travel to here and guard against possible major disappointments. The vintage coaches are 'special' but also old. Enjoy and do follow up with us your search.

Addyman,
Welcome to the forums. The size trailer you are looking for is a great size. You can take it anywhere and pull it with just about anything. Hope you find something great. Let us hear when you do,

Hold out for a caravan with a shower if you can. Nothing beats having one and not having to use the(at least often times here in the States) nasty public showers at a campground.

Look forward to hearing about what you find.
