We have just bought our 1st Airstream (1976 Land Yacht) from a great guy in Washington. Have a slight hitch. The person who was going to drive it to the East coast for shipment to the UK now cannot do it. Does anyone our there know a good reasonably priced shipper? Would have bought from the East coast but this was such a lovely trailer and we had a promise!!
Anyway, we can't wait to get it to the UK. Our 2 boys (8 and 4) are really looking forward to sleeping in their 'moving home' and we are looking forward to showing off our style icon. Also looking forward to meeting other Airstream heads in Europe.
Wow, congratulations. That has to be pretty pricey; transporting it from Washington to the East coast and the to the U.K. and then, you have to change the electricals to work on 220?.
Trailer Transporters <-- Cool Until now, I've found this to be the hardest thing to track down. Enjoy!

welcome again, I had send you a PM earlier today. Who is going to ship the trailer for you from the East Coast to the UK? I am pretty sure that shipping from eastcoast plus flatbedding it from Washington to the East Coast might just be as expensive as shipping it directly from the WestCoast... There was a thread somewhere on these forums and it was mentioned a price of $1 to $1.50 per mile, so that is a pretty high sum for the long long trailering...
Well nevertheless it is great to have another Airstream on europes roads! Post Pics! We love pics!!

Be sure to check-out having the Airstream containerized out on the West Coast of the US. Ship by rail road to an East Coast seaport, then across the pond by ship. This might be less expensive in the long run. Also, being properly packed just once in a shipping container would minimnize the chance of shipping damage. In the US, companies in this business can be found under the listing of "Freight Forwarder".
Good Luck!

A friend of mine shipped his '54 Flying Cloud from San Francisco to Paris in a shipping container (sorry, can't remember the name of the company).
Make sure the shipper knows what they're doing- I witnessed the "packing" of the trailer into the container. Less than an inch on each side of the trailer to spare. Yikes, it was nerveracking. Good luck!
I hope you've solved your transport problems. My Airstream is a little closer to home, in Zeebrugge and I hope to have it in the UK by next week. As I've prepared for the delivery I've collected all sorts of info you might find helpful. Contact me if you have any questions - I'll try to help you.
