Life, an Airstream and Music

Hey! I've just bought a '76 Trade Wind, double bed, 25ft trailer - and I think it's great!

My name is Rick, born in NY, now live in Florida. An opportunity came up and I bought my Airstream with ideas of camping and trips to relatives out of state. But looking at the future of the economy, I want to make it my goal in two years to go to full time RVing. I figure, home is where the heart is. My home happens to have wheels, most people's don't, other than that, what's the difference? And, since I'm a musician (blues/rock guitar), living in an Airstream fits the bill - it's portable and I always have a place to stay.

Well, my baby needs some TLC before I can go camping. I have a list of ideas - upgrades, solar panels, wind mill generator - and plan to be able to boon dock whenever I want!

For a 30 year old treated as a camper, she has held up well. I'm gonna get her inspected, see what's what and how much. I'm thinking taking the next year to work on her, enjoying and doing things right. Found a inspiring video on YouTube called Classic Rides and they redo a '70 Overlander -
I'm gonna fix up mine, and when the time comes, move in and down the road!
Alright, later!

Great idea and good luck on the restoration! I often wonder how much more freedom I'd have if I sold the big house and all my stuff an moved into the Aistream (a bigger one than I have now) and moved with the seasons. I fly every week (almost) for 2-3 nights and can live anywhere from the Midwest to the west as long as there is an airport. But my better half wouldn't like it. He needs roots so weekends and vacations will do it for now. Good luck!

Welcome Rick,

You'll find plenty useful information here to help you reno/resto your rig. Solar technology and living off the grid is well documented in these forums.

Good luck,

Kevin

Thank you. I've got friends and family who want to help, so hopefully we can figure out what to do!
