Let the journey begin!

I have wanted an airstream since I was in college. I started looking for one seriously about 4 years ago .I finally pulled the trigger 3 weeks ago and purchased a 1966 Globetrotter(coincidentally the year I started collage) .I took possession this weekend past .
Started taking it apart, and as I dug deeper I found that the old lady is going to need more work than I initially thought. Shes still in pretty good shape for being 41 years old .I'm going to be asking a lot of questions.
I bought it to use ,not to flip .Hope to meet lots of people on the road .I plan to take it for a shakedown cruise in about a month then get serious about dealing with any structural and mechanical problems it may have .The wife and I plan to leave for Alaska in it next may. Hello everyone

Welcome to the forums! Sounds loike you are going to be doing the flight of the bumblebee between now and May. If you get stuck, this forum is great for people to help you through.

So when is this..."old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

Welcome aboard! You're in the best possible place to get help refurbishing your new toy and getting her ready for the road...poke around in the subforums and do some buzz word searched for areas of interest/need, and you'll find a lot of info...and if that doesn't work, just ask these kind and knowledgable folks! They are more than willing to offer info and moral support...

Happy Trails,
