Just Picked up a '69 Airstream

Hello Everyone,
My wife and I just purchased a '69 Airstream. It is completely gutted and we are hoping to outfit it for use as a mobile film making studio. It is in great shape and I think will be a fun project. Looking forward to learning lots on this forum.

Welcome to the family. With an empty shell, you have a clean canvas to build what you need. Just keep in mind things like weight and balance -- you don't want to exceed the Max Gross Weight and you need to balance your build-out so that there is 10-15% of the total weight at the trailer tongue or your towing experiences might be really exciting!

Most important thing is running gear -- brakes must work, wheels/tires balanced, tires in good shape.

Also, carbonated malt beverage storage and chill capacity is an often overelooked yet critical factor.

Enjoy,

mike

Welcome to the forums, Tim and Joan. You've come to the right place for all things Airstream. Hopefully you got a short one, because BC Ferries just jacked up their prices for over length vehicles!

welcome Hockeyboy from a fellow '69 Safari-ite!

I just bumped an Old thread just for US:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f420...ere-13834.html

add yr name to the list!

one thing quirky 'bout my 69 is that all the appliances are on the streetside...it doesn't seem to affect towing or balance but I could see how better interior weight dist would be a good thing and with your tabula rasa maybe you can consider it... post PICTURES!

23 is a great size, we camp a family of 3 or 4 (w/guest) and love it..

PROPANE rocks! consider a prop 'fridge, save yr batteries..

looking forward to following your progress...
